We have a 4yr old rescued Wheaten mix (probably cocker) and he has overcome all of his fears except for one...: fear of the clippers. He has bitten three groomers and doesn't respond to the three different types of tranquilizers the vet prescribed when I begged her to give the dog something so we could get get him groomed. They just made him schizo and frantic. The vet recommended behavior training and I spoke with some people over the phone who said we just need to desensitize him to the clippers. I bought a pair of clippers and leave it laying around the house. I pet him with the clippers when they are not on. I give him treats etc. I am looking for any ideas that will help us get him over this last fear. Any ideas? He is still terrified of the thing. I tried turning it on yesterday and he freaked out just like he has in the past. HELP!!!!
